Biography

I am an Associate Professor and until recently the Safety Coordinator for the School of Aviation Sciences here at Utah Valley University. A Utah native, I grew up working at a small airport in Utah County where I was able to obtain my Private Pilot Certificate before my senior year of High School. I've had a 30 plus year flying career including a dozen years flying air ambulance missions in the intermountain west (Airmed & Lifeflight), work at two on demand charter services (Barken International, Keystone Aviation), two airlines (WinAir, JeBblue) and a corporate flight department (NR Aviation). I am type rated in Boeing, Gulfstream, Learjet and several Citation jet aircraft models. I am also a rated Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic (AMT). My career has taken me to all fifty states, the Caribbean, Central America, Canada and many other international destinations. My undergrad education includes a degree in Psychology from the University of Utah and an Applied Science degree in Aviation Maintenance from Salt Lake Community College. My graduate work is in Aeronautics with specialties in Human Factors and Safety from Embry Riddle University. I was the Flight Safety Officer at Keystone Aviation (DBA MillionAir Salt Lake) for 7 years and past Chairman of the National Safety Council’s - Aviation Safety Committee.
