Biography
Nate Mathis enters his 23rd year as an Assistant Athletic Director at Utah Valley University overseeing UVU Athletics Corporate Partnerships. He was previously the Executive Director of the Wolverine Club for one year and an assistant baseball coach at Utah Valley for the previous three years. Mathis spent two seasons as an assistant baseball coach at Brigham Young University before coming to Utah Valley in 2003. Mathis also serves as the sport administrator for the Utah Valley baseball program.
Mathis had a fine baseball career at both Utah Valley from 1996-98 and at BYU from 1998-2000. Mathis was a co-captain for BYU as a senior when he was the Cougars' starting second baseman. As a Wolverine player he was named Utah Valley University's "Most Inspirational Athlete" in 1997 and received the "Wilson Sorenson Spirit of Sport Award" in 1998.
Mathis received an associate?s degree in general studies from UVU in 1998, a bachelors degree in communications from BYU in 2000 and a Masters degree in educational leadership from BYU in 2003.
Mathis served an LDS Church mission to San Bernardino, California, from 1994-1996. He is married to his wife, Natalie, and they have two sons, Preston (16) and Lincoln (13).
