Biography
Jason Erickson joined the Utah Valley University athletic department in Sept., 2014. He fronts the publicity efforts for men's basketball, women's soccer and men's golf.
Erickson has earned multiple College Sports Information Directors Association of America (CoSIDA) publications and digital design awards. He helped lead the UVU athletic communications and marketing team to a Best of Show award at the 2018 Golden Spike Awards (Public Relations Society of America Greater Salt Lake and Utah County Chapters) for its men's basketball Toughest 24 publicity and media relations campaign. Erickson was also honored at UVU with a Division of Excellence Award for his efforts.
Toughest 24 put the Utah Valley University men's basketball team in the national spotlight with its games at Kentucky and Duke on back-to-back nights to open the 2017-18 basketball season. The project got local and national media to cover the event and embedded them with the team on the trip for a behind-the-scenes look at UVU hoops.
Erickson helped finalize a partnership with KSL TV to stream UVU's athletic events, post exclusive content on its website (KSLsports.com), and to create space for UVU athletics on the KSL TV app.
Erickson joined UVU after working seven years at the Western Athletic Conference in Denver, Colorado. He led publicity efforts for the Conference and was the primary contact for men's basketball, baseball, women's soccer, golf and gymnastics.
