Melba Latu is a proud Orem, Utah, native. Her family is from the islands of Tonga. Melba received her BA in English with a minor in Violin from Brigham Young University. Melba graduated with her Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, MA. Melba brings a rich career in Higher Education as a program director, Student Conduct Director, Deputy Title IX Coordinator, and Dean of Students. Her career has spanned BYU, BYU?Hawaii, and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She brings nearly two decades of work in Higher Education student affairs, investigations, and leadership. Melba is please to join Utah Valley University as the University Title IX Coordinator and Director of the Equity & Title IX Office. She is focused on ensuring that campus is a safe place in which students and thrive and faculty, staff, and visitors can enjoy all that UVU has to offer.
