Alaa Alsarhan

Biography

Dr. Alaa Alsarhan serves as the Director of Academic Assessment and Analytics at Utah Valley University, where he leads initiatives in data-driven assessment and learning analytics. Holding a BSc in Computer Science, an MSc in Electronic Business, and a Ph.D. in Educational Inquiry, Measurement, and Evaluation, Dr. Alsarhan specializes in quantitative and qualitative analysis, advanced statistics, and the use of large language models in educational research. His research examines the effects of high-impact practices on student outcomes, focusing on how experiential learning transforms educational trajectories. His work also includes improving assessment practices and leading projects that leverage LLMs to evaluate and enhance program and course learning outcomes. Dr. Alsarhan is a patent holder for an innovative tool designed to assess student engagement at the course level.
