Dr. Theresa Haug-Belvin

Biography

Dr. Theresa Haug-Belvin is an associate professor in the Department of Student Leadership & Success Studies at Utah Valley University. Her work focuses on peer mentor selection, training and assessment; inclusive teaching practices; first-year seminars; and faculty perceptions of first-year seminars. In addition to her teaching and research, Dr. Haug-Belvin also serves as the Faculty Director of the UVU Mentor Program.

She was the lead editor for three editions of the textbook First-Year Seminar_ Connecting to Southeast and currently sits on two editorial boards - E-Source for College Transitions and The Journal of Student Leadership. In addition, she serves as the Social Media and Website Manager of the NASPA Faculty Council.

Prior to becoming a faculty member, Dr. Haug-Belvin was a full-time student affairs professional for eleven years in the areas of first-year experience, orientation, and career services. She holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Missouri - Columbia.
