May 24 - June 12, 2026
This study abroad will introduce students to the various ways artists and their audiences view the world - personally, philosophically, scientifically, and artistically. We will visit major museums, churches, and historic sites related to the history of art produced during the Golden Age of the Dutch Republic, the nineteenth century in Paris, and the twentieth century in Europe. We will also explore the history of ceramic production in Europe at ceramic factories in Delft and Sevres. Students will participate in regular class discussions and presentations, receive on-site education, and learn and practice drawing and photography as means of observing and recording. We will travel for two weeks in Europe studying art and ceramics, and then we will return to Utah where students will work for four days in the UVU ceramics studio creating a work of art based on something they saw and learned about in Europe.
