Virtual Open Lab (after week 5):

The purpose of this Virtual Open Lab (after week 5) with the instructors and/or Certified Financial Planners™ (by appointment) is to provide you with the opportunity to analyze your own financial preparedness for retirement, using the tools and concepts presented in the class. You will have the opportunity for one-on-one feedback from the instructors and/or Certified Financial Planners™ as they help you:

  • Estimate your Social Security retirement benefits
  • Estimate your pension or other company retirement benefits
  • Properly allocate your investments in preparation for retirement
  • Coordinate your Social Security/Pension benefits with income from your investments to optimize your future income and minimize taxes during retirement

SCOTT PETERSON ChFC® | Peterson Wealth Advisors

Scott Peterson is the founder and managing partner of Peterson Wealth Advisors. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1986 and is a Chartered Financial Consultant™. Scott and his team of Certified Financial Planners™ specialize in financial management for retirees. Scott has broken ground in the retirement planning industry as the architect of the Perennial Income Model™, a planning tool that helps retirees manage their investments throughout retirement. 

Scott wrote the book on managing money during retirement entitled, Plan on Living: The Retiree’s Guide to Lasting Income & Enduring Wealth. Scott is a teacher at heart and is a regular presenter at BYU’s Education Week. Scott and the Peterson Wealth Advisor’s team teach classes at various universities and companies to the employees who are preparing to retire. Peterson Wealth Advisors currently manages the finances for more than 700 households of retirees spread across the United States.

Scott enjoys serving his community in various civic and religious endeavors. Scott and his wife, Tracie, have five children and eight grandchildren. When Scott is not in the office, he can be found recreating with his family in the mountains and on the lakes of Utah.

CARSON JOHNSON CFP® | Peterson Wealth Advisors

Carson Johnson is a Certified Financial Planner™ with nearly a decade of experience specializing in retirement income planning for individuals and families. Carson began his career at Fidelity Investments, where he gained valuable experience in financial services. However, he soon realized that he wanted a more personalized approach to financial planning, which led him to Peterson Wealth, where he now works closely with retirees to help them secure their own retirement.

As a proud graduate of Utah Valley University, Carson earned his undergraduate degree in Personal Financial Planning and later obtained a Master’s degree in Financial Planning from the College for Financial Planning. With a background rooted in education, coming from a family of professors—including his father, who teaches at UVU—Carson enjoys teaching and speaking on retirement planning in the community.

Carson currently lives in Spanish Fork with his wife Shamri, and their wonderful three kids. Carson enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and playing sports (especially pickleball).
