Election Night event set for UVU PRSSA group

Utah Valley University’s Public Relations Student Society of America (UVU-PRSSA) is hosting its annual election night on UVU’s campus at Center Stage Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m., the event welcoming students, faculty, alumni, and family to support the 2017-2018 executive board applicants.

“Being on the executive board this past year has been an amazing experience,” said Wade Draper, PRSSA’s current vice president of advocacy. “I now have an incredibly strong network of current PR professionals and future PR professionals. I am excited to see who will be elected to the board for the upcoming year so that I can support them in their PRSSA duties.”

Taylor Lundell, current vice president of public relations for the group, stated in a news release that election night consists of executive board candidates giving a one-minute speech to promote themselves. Applicants running for president and vice president will be given two minutes to deliver their pitches. Candidates are able to run for a second position if they do not win the first, he said and if a candidate is not elected to either position, they are given the opportunity to run from the floor for a third position.

To run for office, Lundell stated, a student must be a current PRSSA member with a minimum 2.5 GPA and be able to maintain their membership for the duration of his or her term.

To run for a position for the executive board, Lundell noted, eligible candidates should visit http://www.uvuprssa.org/jointheboard/ where a description of each position and the application process is available.
