A total of nine new degrees and certificates, including two new Master of Business Administration emphases, were approved at a meeting of the Utah Valley University Board of Trustees on June 22.

The new programs include MBA emphases in marketing and finance; a Bachelor of Science degree in emergency management with an emphasis in disaster assistance; a Bachelor of Arts degree in French secondary education; a graduate certificate in mathematics; a Bachelor of Science in geography; an Associate of Science in health sciences; an Associate of Science in intelligence studies; and a certificate of proficiency in digital media.

“Each program is designed to address a particular need of our students or our service area,” said UVU senior vice president of academic affairs Jeffery E. Olson. “We take that mission very seriously.”

Pending approval by the Utah State Board of Regents and the accreditation of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, the new programs are scheduled to begin with the fall 2018 semester.

This coming fall semester, UVU will begin offering five new graduate programs, including master degrees in accounting, computer science, cybersecurity, public service, and social work.
