Utah Valley University is preparing to launch a competitive new course in venture capital as part of its new UVU Wolverine Fund, made possible by an initial donation of $25,000 from Jive Communications.
Chief Marketing Officer Matt Peterson and Chief Product Officer Mike Sharp from Jive Communications will present the check to UVU President Matthew S. Holland today at 11:45 a.m., in the President’s office.
The UVU Wolverine Fund will operate with the venture capital community already here in Utah. The initial class in conjunction with this fund will be launching in January of 2018. This will be a hands-on, heavily technical class taught by industry experts. It will allow entrepreneur and finance students the opportunity to not only experience how the venture capital community operates, but to receive warm introductions to experts in the industry as well.
“Jive is committed to being an active participant in the communities where we live, work, and play,” Sharp said. “Through the years we’ve really enjoyed our partnership with UVU. We’re excited to extend that partnership with a Jive Foundation grant to kick off the UVU Wolverine Fund, continuing our support of the good work UVU is doing to train the next generation of business leaders.”
Jive Communications has enjoyed a steady flow of UVU students that continue to add to their employee base. The company was the first to pledge a donation to the UVU Wolverine Fund.

The UVU Wolverine Fund is a student-run venture capital group that provides a hands-on engaged learning experience in investing. Students will complete due diligence for partner venture capital firms, source deals for a network of investors around the nation, and participate in national venture capital due diligence competitions.
