Utah Valley University student-constructed Wolverine House sold to fund scholarship endowment

wolverinehouseThe first home built in conjunction with members of the Utah Valley Home Builders Association and construction management students from Utah Valley University was sold this month.

Spearheaded by Jeff Southard of South Haven Homes, former president of the UVHBA, this 4,300-square-foot rambler is a mere chip shot away from the Links at Sleepy Ridge Clubhouse in Orem.

“We are so excited to have closed on the first-ever Wolverine House,” explained Southard. “We expect to donate about $35,000 - $40,000 from this sale to help the construction management students at UVU. This first home is a great way to begin a tradition of giving to support the young people who are just starting out in our industry.”

Appropriately named the Wolverine House, proceeds from the sale of the home will go toward an endowed scholarship fund at UVU. “Through the proceeds from this and future Wolverine House projects over the next several years, the goal is to reach a principle of $1,000,000 which can generate up to eight annual, full scholarships,” said UVU construction management chair Eric Linfield. “The students physically participated in the construction of the Wolverine House and engaged directly with the contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers of the UVHBA.”

Designed by Aaron Inouye of Orem’s Inouye Design, this home was featured in last year’s Utah Valley Parade of Homes, an annual showcase of high-end designer homes spanning across Utah County. Several UVHBA members donated their time and services to the building of this home.

“We couldn’t have done it without the help and donations of many of our members and look forward to doing even more with future Wolverine Homes,” Southard remarked.
