Supported by the Utah Valley University Center for National Security Studies, the
Journal of International Security and Strategic Studies is a peer-reviewed publication
dedicated to advancing scholarly and professional insight into the evolving landscape
of international affairs. The journal places particular emphasis on issues related
to strategy, defense, and national and international security.
Our mission is to serve as a platform for dialogue between practitioners and academics,
encouraging the exchange of ideas and perspectives across disciplines and sectors.
By bridging professional experience with academic research, we aim to foster deeper
understanding and collaboration within the security and strategic studies communities.
We welcome submissions on a rolling basis. Submissions should be timely, impactful,
and contribute meaningfully to the scholarly and professional discourse on security
and strategic issues.
Manuscript Style
Authors are responsible for adhering to the manuscript style, outlined below:
- Abstract: Manuscripts should include an abstract of no more than 250 words. Include
the abstract before your submission in the same document.
- Citations: Citations should be done in accordance with the Chicago Manual StyleGuide.
Other citation styles may be permitted, but must remain consistent throughout the
paper. If submitting a paper with a different StyleGuide, please indicate so in your
submission.
- Length: Articles published in the Journal of International Security and Strategic Studies should ideally range from 3,000 to 12,000 words in length.
- Original Work: All submissions must be original work.
Formatting Requirements
- All submissions must be in Microsoft Word format.
- Double space and left justify manuscripts
- Indent each new paragraph
- 1-inch margins
- Main body text should be 12 point, Times New Roman font
- Footnotes should be 10 point, Times New Roman font
- Main Headers should be 14 point Times New Roman font, bold
- Sub Headers should be 12 point Times New Roman font, italicized
- Images, tables, and figures should appear in the document when they are first introduced
in the text
- Images and figures should be high resolution, meaning at least 300 Dots Per Inch (DPI)
