UVU’s New Employee Orientation aims to help acclimate you to life here at UVU. These orientations happen on the first Wednesday of each month. Please RSVP for the first orientation on or after your start date. Because some new employees may already know a lot about UVU, we offer a customizable orientation experience with three phases (see below for details).

New employee orientation will take place in the Fulton Library on the fourth floor in the Lakeview Room (FL 428).

 

Phase 1: 8:30 – 9:10 a.m.

This campus tour is best for employees who have never worked on campus before or want to see new parts of campus. This tour covers the Sorensen Student Center, Woodbury Business, Browning Administration, Hall of Flags, Rebecca D. Lockhart Arena, Liberal Arts, Fulton Library, and Student Life and Wellness Center buildings.

  • Learn the locations of important resources such as payroll, printing, and People & Culture.
  • Hear tips and tricks to find your way around campus.
  • Find out secret deals, discounts, and resources.
  • Get a feel for the student experience.

 

 

Phase 2: 9:15 – 10:30 a.m.

The People & Culture Workplace Culture & Engagement team offers a resource fair and presents the logistics of being a UVU employee.  Required for all new full-time staff employees.  Part-time employees and faculty are also welcome to attend.  This presentation covers:

Phase 3: 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

All full-time employees are to attend the required benefits orientation, which will take place over Microsoft Teams. Instructions and the link to join will be emailed prior to the date of the orientation.

  • Life insurance
  • Retirement
  • Employee wellness program
  • "What-if" scenarios
  • Opportunity to schedule one-on-one appointment with benefits specialist

 

Phase 4: Online at your own pace

All new employees who will supervise at least one employee (including supervising student employees) are required to take this course. The link to register for the course will be sent out on the day of the orientation.

Covers:

  • Resources for new supervisors

  • The Leadership Competency Experience (UVULEAD trainings and the Supervisor Review)

  • Important HR-related processes such as hiring, working with HR Business Partners, compensation, and tracking hours

  • Policies such as FLSA, FMLA, and ADA
