On Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, Utah Valley University Rotaractors will observe the World Polio Day at UVU. It is a time when members of the Rotary International, world famous non-governmental group to gather its members, public health advocates, and everyone, who want a world free from polio to come together, and both recognize the progress in the fight to end polio and talk about the actions to take to end polio.
A keynote speaker for the event is Mr. Oliver Rosenbauer, Communications officer, Global Polio Eradication Initiative, World Health Organization.
Oliver Rosenbauer
Born in 1970, Oliver studied communication sciences (BA) and psychology (MSc). After
spending his early career at a PR agency in London, where he worked with pharmaceutical
companies, he joined the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2003 as spokesperson for
the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. In this role, he works closely with Rotary,
Rotaract and the PolioPlus program. He has been a Rotarian himself since 2015, serving
in the Rotary Club Genève International. Oliver lives with his wife and two daughters
near Geneva, Switzerland.
The event will be hosted through the student-engaged learning (SEL) model. SEL encourages students to address real-world problems as a group with a faculty serving as a mentor.
