1Million Cups - Ditto

Video content creation for entertainment, education, and business has played a big role in how information is organized and shared. Despite the popularity and the increase of video production, there are still limitations to this medium such as language barriers. Brothers Nate and Jackson Stone have figured out a less expensive and organic way to translate languages while maintaining the original voice of the narrator.

The Stone brother’s company is called Ditto and it was through Nate’s experiences as a YouTuber that sprouted the language translation idea. As Nate was trying to make his videos accessible on a global scale, he discovered how time consuming and expensive it is to translate a whole video. He decided to create an artificial intelligence program that can translate the voice in the video to 28 different languages within minutes. It sounds like the person’s original voice while keeping the native-like fluidity of another language. This will allow for globalization of content in a shorter amount of time and an increase in views which can help make profit. For businesses on the international stage, companies will be able to communicate and share information to international partners without a translator.

Two very important people to Nate that helped him develop the basis of Ditto were Leonardo Da Vinci and Steve Jobs. Their creative and innovative ideas helped him with the foundation of this AI. Both embraced the beauty of perfection with simplicity and Nate hopes to make translation as uncomplicated and easy as possible.

Jackson joined his brother on his mission to share content globally but what truly drives him is the creation involved in this project and the ability to build bridges between cultures through language. His goal for Ditto is to develop a natural extension between the creator and their audience.

They see the success of Ditto as a revolutionary way to create content and how it is shared. Ditto is intended to reach global spaces such as content creation, education, and business. Though it is not how the Stone Brother’s currently promote Ditto, it is a goal of theirs to have their software translate languages in real time. This can especially help improve communication in video calls and live-streams.
