Course Description

This immersive Change Management course is designed for leaders and professionals seeking to drive sustainable organizational transformation using John Kotter’s renowned 8-Step Process for Leading Change. Grounded in the principles from Our Iceberg is Melting and The Heart of Change Field Guide, you’ll learn how to build urgency, align the right people around a shared vision, and create the conditions where change can take hold—especially when priorities shift and resistance shows up.

You’ll leave with practical tools and a clear, repeatable approach for leading change with confidence. Along the way, you’ll strengthen your ability to communicate for real understanding and buy-in, empower others to act, remove barriers, and keep momentum going through visible wins and sustained progress—so change doesn’t just start strong, but actually sticks.

Course FAQs

Do I need to enroll in all three courses?

The three courses are designed as a connected series and are strongest when taken in sequence. Each course builds directly on the last, so enrolling in the full program is strongly recommended for the best experience and outcomes.

What is Kotter's 8-Step Process?

It's one of the most widely adopted change management frameworks in the world, developed by Harvard Business School professor John Kotter. It provides a structured, research-backed approach to leading organizational transformation that has been used by leaders and companies globally for decades.

What is the time commitment between courses?

Each course runs approximately one month, with a one-week break between courses. Plan for one hour of live Zoom time each Wednesday evening, plus self-paced online work through Canvas.

Is this course relevant outside of large corporate environments?

Absolutely. The Kotter framework applies to change at any scale: a small team, a department, a nonprofit, or a large enterprise. If you lead people through change, this program is relevant to your work.

Why take this course from UVU?

Leadership development and change management programs at comparable institutions typically run $2,000–$5,000 for a structured, multi-course series. At $1,530, this program delivers 60 hours of expert-led, Kotter-based instruction across three focused courses, with a cohort format and live weekly sessions that most self-paced alternatives simply can't replicate.
