Federal regulations and Utah Valley University policy require that students who borrow a Perkins loan must complete exit counseling before leaving school (graduate or withdraw) or drop below half-time (6 credits for undergraduate students and 4.5 for graduate students), regardless if you plan to transfer to another school.

This requirement is in place so that you will receive essential information regarding your rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower. You will receive information about the loans you received, when and where to make your payments, what to do if you cannot make your payment and what can happen if you do not make your payments and default on your obligation.

Exit counseling must be completed in person. Please call the Collections Office at 801.863.8611 to schedule an appointment.

Students who fail to complete exit counseling will have a hold placed on their records. Holds restrict certain University services, release of transcripts and diplomas.
