State Math Contest

2026 State Math Contest

The 2026 State Math Contest will be held on March 9.  Due to recent events on the UVU campus and subsequent changes in campus policies, the exam will be given remotely.

Before the Test

  • The exam and Scantron forms will be emailed to you on Monday, March 9th by 8:15 AMfrom Allan Wong ([email protected]).
  • Print exams and Scantrons. Links to the Scantron forms are posted above if you would like to print them before Monday. Please note that there are two different Scantrons—Junior (7-9th grade) and Senior (10th – 12th grade)—so make sure your students use the correct form.
  • The test is 2 hours long. Please schedule a 2‑hour testing window between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
  • If a student begins after 10:00 AM, their exam must still be collected by 12:00 PM.

During the Test

  • Students may use blank scratch paper (plain copy paper only — no lined or graph paper).
  • No electronics allowed. This includes calculators, phones, computers, headphones, and any other electronic devices.
  • All electronics should be stored inside a zipped backpack. This is a paper‑and‑pencil exam only.

After the Test

  • Scan the Scantrons with a photocopier and save the files as a PDF or JPEG format. If you have any questions or problems with the scanning of the Scantrons contact David Dean ([email protected]).
  • Please email an electronic copy of the completed scantrons to David Dean ([email protected]) and Joe Simons ([email protected]) by 3:30 PM on Monday, March 9th.
  • This emailed submission will serve as the official test submission.

Homeschool Students

If you are an individual student not affiliated with a middle school, junior high, or high school, you will need to take the exam at the nearest school participating in the Utah State Mathematics Competition. Please contact Lindsey Gerber ([email protected]) for assistance in locating a participating high school or junior high near you.
