Biography

Tahira Carroll was born in New Delhi, India, travelled to many countries and now has settled in Provo Utah with her husband and two children. She speaks, reads and writes Hindi, Burmese and English fluently and understands just enough Spanish and Korean to get her into trouble. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a Masters in Linguists and also has a Bachelors of Science in Animal Studies with a double minor in International Studies and Chemistry. After graduating she worked at Pharmanex and was part of the research and development team that created the nutritional supplement drink G3. After this she decided to take on her most important role - that of Motherhood. In her spare time from that role she has worked with the Church Translation team to translate The Book of Mormon into Hindi and she is currently working on translating The Doctrine and Covenants. For the last thirteen years Tahira has been teaching Hindi at Brigham Young University. She teaches the First, Second and third year Hindi students. She established the curriculum and the Second and Third Year Hindi program at Brigham Young University. She has also taught Hindi to students from both the University of Utah and Boise State University. Tahira also studied Arabic as a Foreign Language Area Studies Scholarship Recipient. Her area of study deals with eye tracking to understand language processing.
