Program Details

The program begins and ends with visits to the historic cities of Verona and Venice, giving students the opportunity to experience Italy’s rich cultural heritage alongside its natural wonders. The main goal of the program, however, is to foster an in-depth understanding of natural science through a combination of short lectures and practical field activities. These lectures and activities will take place in the Italian Dolomites, specifically in the Parco Naturale Adamello-Brenta Geopark and the Parco Nazionale delle Dolomiti Bellunesi.

These parks, located near the cities of Trento and Belluno, are recognized worldwide for their unique geological heritage and for their numerous sites of exceptional scientific, educational, and aesthetic value. The activities are designed to develop a range of academic, scientific, and life skills (e.g., critical thinking, problem solving, and observational skills).

In addition, the international experience of this course will greatly enhance students’ multicultural awareness. The program perfectly aligns with the mission of the Earth Science and Biology departments, which place a strong emphasis on field trips and practical experiences across their courses.
