Program Details

This study abroad program offers undergraduate AAS and BFA graphic design students at Utah Valley University a rare opportunity to explore the foundations and future of visual communication across two global design capitals: London and Berlin.

Design in Context immerses students in the visual, cultural, and historical environments of London and Berlin to study the intersections of design, art history, and cultural influence. Through guided visits to museums, cultural institutions, design studios, and historic sites, students will develop a richer understanding of the origins of modern design and culture, the Bauhaus movement, post-modernism and contemporary design in all its variety.

This study abroad program provides direct exposure to the contexts in which art and design have evolved, expanding students’ visual libraries and informing their professional practice as designers.

The classes you will receive credit for are ART 491R (Independent Study) and 3000R Special Topics in Art. The program carries 6 credits and emphasizes UVU’s commitment to engaged, experiential learning. Students will return with enriched global awareness, professional insight, and creative confidence that will serve them in both academic and career pursuits.
