Study Abroad Peer Advisors

Job description

UVU’s Office of Education Abroad is seeking recently returned study abroad students for a volunteer position of Study Abroad Peer Advisor for the 2023-2024 academic year. We are currently seeking two advisors.

Study Abroad Peer Advisors are UVU students who work with the UVU Office of Education Abroad staff to promote study abroad programs to UVU students and community through a variety of UVU campus engagements (outreach, programming, events, etc.). Study Abroad Peer Advisors should be ready to use personal international experiences to encourage future study abroad participants. This is an unpaid volunteer position to promote study abroad at UVU.

Responsibilities

Each Study Abroad Peer Advisor will serve for a full academic year for 30 hours per semester (an average of two hours per week). Schedules can be organized around class schedules, but are expected to be adhered to. Duties will include some combination of the following:

  • Answering questions about study abroad and distributing materials at information tables across campus
  • Giving brief presentations to classes and student organizations
  • Assisting with the Education Abroad Office events, such as the Study Abroad Expo, marketing events, etc.
  • Advising students interested in studying in the area or program they have experience with
  • Helping the Education Abroad Office develop creative new methods for outreach to the campus community
  • Assisting in the development of online materials and group activities.
