Advanced Topics in Digital Motion Picture Production | DGM 3500R-001

(Fall) Tuesday and Thursdays from 10AM-11:15AM

Pitch Class

Students will gain advanced knowledge and practical understanding of pitching creative IPs within the entertainment industry. Develop and present a narrative feature‑film pitch to FanX Studios while competing for a place in the Writers Room program, bridging the gap between education and the professional world.

UVU-FanX Studios Writer's Room

Students will apply their skills and creative assets to develop their selected feature-film treatments and script draft as the initial phase of the UVU-FanX Studios Writers Room program. Learn more about phase two of the program below.

Department for Theatrical Arts for Stage and Screen

Prod Pract Stage Scrn | Humbug | THEA 1590R-003

(Fall)

Students will receive credit for supervised backstage crew positions on HUMBUG! The Musical production;, including wardrobe, deck crew, board operations, props, and other production needs. Students must participate throughout the entire technical rehearsal and production run.

Music Perform Practicum | Humbug | THEA 4190R-001

(Fall)

Students will receive college credit for supervised performance and production assignments in HUMBUG! The Musical production, allowing them to apply their skills in a live production setting. Requires an audition and approval from the instructor or Department Chair.

Practical Design | THEA 4570R

(Fall)

Students will receive college credit for advanced design work in scenic, lighting, costume, or makeup for approved projects. Projects will include designs for HUMBUG! The Musical and other UVU productions or community and regional performing groups.

Costume Construction | Lab | THEA 2204

(Fall)

Students will receive college credit to collaborate with costume shop staff in creating, altering, embellishing, and maintaining costume for HUMBUG! The Musical and other UVU productions or community and regional performing groups.

Stagecraft | Lab | THEA 1514

(Fall)

Students will receive credit and experience in the construction, painting, and dressing of sets for HUMBUG! The Musical and other UVU productions or community and regional performing groups.

Theatre Internship | THEA 4810R

(Fall)

Students will recieve credit whilst transitioning from educational theatre to professional life where learned theory is applied to actual work on HUMBUG! The Musical and other UVU productions or community and regional performing groups.

Senior Project in Performance | THEA 4993

(Fall)

Students will receive credit for work on HUMBUG! The Musical, or other UVU productions or community and regional performing groups, through research of advanced nature in the area of Theatre Arts under faculty supervision. Requires an area of study to be designated.

 

UVU Writers Room

Students can earn up to $5,000 to develop and write a full‑length feature film for FanX Studios under the mentorship of an industry legend. To qualify, students must complete DGM 3500R, where they prepare and deliver a pitch to FanX Studios for a chance to be selected for the Writer's Room.

Prerequisite: Must complete DGM 3500R.

Program Goals

1. Gain experience working through a professional writing agreement with FanX Studios.

2. Learn the fundamentals of writing a feature-length screenplay.

3. Receive personalized mentorship from an accomplished industry professional.

4. Develop and complete an original feature film screenplay.
