Application Process

When applying as a student at UVU:

1 - Apply for and be admitted as an Undergraduate Degree Seeking student here

(Students will need to reapply and pay a $15 reapplication fee if "Nondegree Seeking" is chosen)

2 - Apply to the RCA program - see link below

3 - All pre-reqs must be completed before your RCA semester begins.

Class days and times are Monday/Wednesday/Friday   7:30 am - 5:00 pm. 

These times are subject to change and students cannot miss any classes due to military, weddings, etc. without prior approval.

Classes typically begin in early January ending in April (Spring semester) and late August ending in December (Fall semester).

Pre-reqs

1PT Requirements

Be able to successfully complete the RCA Physical Fitness Ability Test (PFAT) prior to acceptance:

  • Run 1.5 miles in less than 15 minutes
  • As many possible push-ups in 1 minute, from your toes, full arm extension
  • As many possible sit-ups in 1 minute, hands on head or behind your neck
2Driver's License

You must be at least 18 years old on the first day of class and have a valid driver's license to send in a copy with the application

3Education

Complete: (Must have a C- or higher)

  • Demonstrate competency in English and Math by one of the following:
    • ACT score of 19, SAT, High School AP courses, college level courses (ENGH 1005 or higher and MAT 0980 or higher), previous degrees or RCA entrance exam
  • ESFF 1000 (4 credits) – Intro to Emergency Services and Ability Testing
  • ESFF 1120 (3 credits) – Principles of Fire and Emergency Services Safety Survival
  • ESEC 1140 (9 credits), or other approved EMT course, or NREMT Certification
4Required Items

Before entering the program, please review the required materials list. You are not required to have these materials before you apply but you will need them before the program begins.

You can apply at any time before the prerequisites are completed by filling out our online application. Please make sure to fill out all fields correctly and to the best of your knowledge. You will receive a copy after you submit your application and it has been processed. NOTE: Receiving a copy of the application does not guarantee entrance into the program. You must register for the RCA course after your application has been accepted.
