Construction Department

What We Do

The UVU Construction shop is dedicated to providing quality service to the University in construction, renovation projects, painting, finish work, woodwork and carpentry, flooring and tile, and much more. We also provide fabrication services such as designing, building, and installing cabinets, display cases, shelves, countertops, and many other accessories.

Construction Costs & Billing

The Construction department is state funded to maintain and operate campus facilities as originally constructed and will perform routine maintenance at their own expense. Technicians may provide work beyond the scope of routine maintenance at the expense of the requesting department and pending approval. These requests are considered billable services and are outlined below.

Campus Services bills monthly for services performed through Service Requests and for any work orders that are completed for services outside of routine maintenance services.

NOTE: A Service Request form must be submitted for all work that is considered a billable service.

Routine Maintenance Services

Examples include but not limited to

  • Ceiling tile replacement and repair
  • Painting in public spaces, as needed
  • Drywall and plaster repairs
  • Floor tile repair and replacement in public spaces
  • Installation/repairs of whiteboards in classrooms
  • Hand railings and stair repair and replacement
  • Window and glass repairs on building exteriors
  • Brick, mortar, cement inspection and repair
  • Maintenance of floor and wall coverings in public spaces

Billable Services

Examples include but not limited to

  • Construction, repair, and/or installation of cabinets, bookshelves, and miscellaneous casework
  • Picture framing, picture hanging, whiteboard/chalk board installations outside of classrooms
  • Replacement and/or repair of carpets, linoleum, vinyl floors, wooden floors, and other floor surfaces in departmental spaces
  • Painting accent walls
  • Patching and painting due to items on office walls in excess of one whiteboard
