Welcome to the LEAD Program.

The LEAD Program is UVU's leadership development pathway to help you build leadership skills, gain career-ready competencies, and make a positive impact through involvement on campus or in the community, meet with mentors, and engage in formal and informal learning opportunities.

 

What is the LEAD Program?

Through four phases, you can progress at your own pace toward earning Standard (phase 1 & 2) and High leadership distinctions (phase 3 & 4) for your transcript while developing in key career-readiness leadership areas: self-awareness, communication, collaboration, ethical leadership, inclusion, and community impact.

Applications for the LEAD program are always open.

The deadline to complete phases to receive distinctions every year is April 1.

Leadership Distinction and Cords

Complete LEAD to earn a leadership distinction on your transcript, graduation cords, and a credential that strengthens resumes, CVs, and graduate school applications.
 
 
 

Certified Peer Educator Training

Earn NASPA Certified Peer Educator (CPE) training while developing skills in communication, presentations, leadership, and working effectively with others. This nationally recognized certification helps you build confidence and make a meaningful impact in your communities and future career.

CliftonStrengths

As a participant in the LEAD program students complete the CliftonStrengths assessment to discover your natural talents and strengths. Widely used by employers and recruiters, CliftonStrengths helps you build the language and confidence to clearly articulate your strengths as you explore career opportunities and navigate the workforce.

Mentors

Identify and connect with a mentor of your choice, whether that's a professor, staff member, or community leader. Through regular conversations, you'll gain guidance, build your network, and receive support as you pursue your leadership, academic, and career goals.

Employability Skills Assessment

Complete the NACA Employability Skills Assessment to evaluate the career readiness skills employers value most, including communication, teamwork, critical thinking, leadership, and personal development. The assessment provides personalized feedback to help you identify your strengths, recognize areas for growth, and better articulate the skills you're building through your leadership experiences. 

Leadership and Involvement

Complete self-selected involvement and leadership hours through experiences that align with your interests, goals, and schedule. Whether you're serving in a student organization, volunteering in the community, attending leadership events, or participating in campus programs, you'll gain hands-on experience while building skills that support your personal and professional growth.
