What is the G/I Distinction?

The Global/Intercultural distinction offers students a concentration to showcase their global learning at UVU. By participating in this program, students will have opportunities to discuss, observe, and interact in various demographics to enhance their personal and professional lives in relation to others worldwide.

To complete the distinction, students are expected to:

  1. Participate in and complete at least 3 G/I courses

  2. Expand horizons through co-curricular:

Study abroad, international internship, or community interaction (150 hours service within United States but with a different culture than one’s own)

  3. Attend, reflect, and discuss at least three community presentations related to G/I in their final semester.

  4. Actively engage in and complete the G/I professionalization course (SLSS 4020G)

You will articulate undergrad experience with a G/I focus as a portfolio along with an updated resume to reflect on expanding G/I awareness, understanding in how your field of work relates Globally and Interculturally, and community engagement.

Global Intercultural Distinction provides students an opportunity to set themselves apart as professionals in their field. Students will also receive a distinction on their transcript and cords to graduate in.
