Every person has the right to access a public record. Only certain people have the right to access private, controlled, or protected documents. Only certain people may access private, controlled, and protected documents.
In Utah Code §63G-2-103(21), public record is defined as “a record that is not private, controlled, or protected and that is not exempt from disclosure as provided in Subsection 63G-2-201(3)(b).”
In Utah Code §63G-2-103(19), private record is defined as “a record containing data on individuals that is private as provided by Section 63G-2-302.”
In Utah Code §63G-2-103(6), controlled record is defined as “a record containing data on individuals that is controlled as provided by Section 63G-2-304.”
In Utah Code §63G-2-103(20), protected record is defined as “a record that is classified protected as provided by Section 63G-2-305.”

When will I see the records I requested?
