Dr. Paula Findlen is a professor of early modern intellectual and cultural history and has authored and edited several books including Possessing Nature: Museums, Collecting and Scientific Culture in Early Modern Italy (1996), Italy’s Eighteenth Century: Gender and Culture in the Age of the Grand Tour (2009), Empires of Knowledge: Scientific Networks in the Early Modern World (2018), and Florence After the Medici: Tuscan Enlightenment, 1737-1790 (2019). Possessing Nature won the Pfizer Award from the History of Science Society and the Marraro Award for best book on Italian history from the American Historical Association.
