Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Education

This four-year degree prepares students to teach Spanish in Secondary education (grades 7-12) settings. Students take major courses from the Languages department and licensure courses through the School of Education. This degree requires separate application to the School of Education.

This minor can be earned in conjunction with any Bachelor degree major that UVU offers. The minor consists of 18 credit hours of upper-division coursework. There are some specific courses required and a number of electives so be sure to contact the advisor for more information.

Spanish for the Professions - Translation/Interpreting Minor

Students in this minor will learn the foundations of translation and interpreting while studying Spanish for specific professions of their choice, such as medicine, law, and business. This minor prepares students to understand careers in the language services industry and gives them in-demand skills, such as translation technology.

Minor in Languages

Pair Spanish with an additional language pr your choosing! This minor can be earned in conjunction with any Bachelor degree major that UVU offers. It requires 9 cr upper division course work in one language and 11 cr of intermediate level course work in another language (prerequisites will vary from student to student)

Bachelor of Arts or Science in Integrated Studies; emphasis in Spanish

You can use Spanish as one of two areas of emphasis in the Integrated Studies Bachelor degree. To do this, you pair Spanish with another area of interest to build a customized program of study. You complete 18 hours of upper-division coursework in Spanish, 18 hours of your second emphasis, and 15 hours of Integrated Studies courses. Spanish Certifications

Business Spanish Qualifying Exams

Utah Valley University has been authorized by the Official Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Madrid to administer their "Business Spanish Exams." UVU is pleased to offer them to both students and faculty interested in obtaining their Certification.

Qualifying Exams:

  • Certificado Básico de Español de los Negocios
  • Certificado Superior de Español de los Negocios
  • Diploma de Español de los Negocios
  • Advanced Business Certificate by the Madrid Chamber of Commerce.

The exams are currently offered once a year in the month of April. The exams include:
  • Reading Comprehension.
  • Language Proficiency.
  • Writing proficiency.
  • An Oral Interview.

  • Cost of the exams: $170.00
  • Processing Fee: $15.00
    • (Subject to international exchange rate adjustments)

In preparation for these exams Utah Valley University is currently offering two semesters of Business Spanish: SPAN 3200 and SPAN 4200, both courses are cross listed with our International Business Program.
