Where do you find yourself?

I wish my work had more meaning. I don’t feel like I make much of a difference in what I do.

Response

Seeing a client reach their financial goals is one of the most fulfilling parts of a financial advisor’s job. You not only help people with money, but also help them find stability so they can live the life they’ve always wanted.

I am more involved in operations and support than I’d like to be. I wish I had more opportunities to work directly with clients.

Response

Consider becoming a financial advisor. Financial advisors work directly with individuals as they help them manage their finances and prepare for retirement.

I don’t feel like my work is challenging enough. My professional development has reached a plateau, and I feel stuck.

Response

Have you considered getting a graduate degree? Taking advanced courses that focus on various aspects of financial services can help you hone your skills as you propel yourself towards your next, more challenging career opportunity.

Next steps

I would love to become a portfolio manager, but I’m not sure how to get there.

Response

I want to prepare myself to own a financial planning or investment advising firm.

Response

Nothing communicates credibility better than a graduate degree in your chosen profession. It sends a strong message to your clients and firm owners that you are serious about financial services.
