The Divine sarah: Writing her name in the stars

Curated in part by UVU Art History students, this exhibition showcases costumes from the Utah Opera collection that evoke and stylistically reimagine a selection of Sarah Bernhardt’s most iconic roles. Together, these pieces celebrate the illustrious artiste’s enduring influence on performance and design.

The stories we hold: Journeys through myth and memory

This exhibition features artwork which draws from childhood memories, ancestral traditions, cultural mythology and family histories to explore how storytelling shapes the way we understand ourselves, our communities, and the world around us.The art in this exhibit ranges from mixed media, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and textiles. 

Artists include:  Shonto Begay, Eunkang Koh, Lenka Konopasek, Pénélope Lenaerts, Angelica Raquel, and Wren Ross

 

 

 

 

Once Upon a Time - An Art-Historical Reimagining of the Hildebrandt Brothers

once upon a time: an art-historical reimagining of the hildebrandt brothers

June 2 - september 5, 2026

 

Showcasing paintings by Greg and Tim Hildebrandt from the Museum’s permanent collection, this exhibition includes illustrations of The Lord of the Rings, The Phantom of the Opera, The Wizard of Oz, and many more. This show traces the stylistic elements found in these works to a greater art historical tradition, reframing familiar stories as contemporary works situated within a rich and ongoing continuum of artistic storytelling. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Museum Education Showcase

shadow stories: imagined worlds in light and form

June 2 - september 5, 2026

Discover a display inspired by the centuries-old art of shadow puppetry, created through the museum’s Art for All community art activity. These guest-made panels transform simple silhouettes into imaginative, layered stories, inviting you to interpret what is unfolding beyond the frame. Step into the experience by exploring each scene, and try the shadow puppet theater to bring your own story to life!

More than meets the eye: abstract works from the permanent collection

June 4, 2026 - January 9, 2027

Curated by UVU students Ashley Savage and Becca Baertsch, this exhibition features non-objective work from the permanent collection, asking viewers to discover meaning through curiosity, careful observation, and reflection.

Art for All

Free and Open to the Public

Second Saturdays from 11:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the ART HAUS

Join us at the Museum's Art Haus each month for a free, hands-on art activity open to all ages and abilities. Art for All sessions are community-based and collaborative programs designed to connect us all. The Art for All projects are cumulative and work created during these sessions are later displayed in the Museum Education Showcase during select times of the year.

Open Studio

Free and Open to the Public

Select Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the ART HAUS

These short-form studio classes offer hands-on activities open to all ages and abilities. Each activity connects to the artworks on display in our Museum exhibitions to enhance one’s understanding of the exhibition content as well as the materials used and artistic processes employed in the art on view.

Getting to the Museum

Car

From the South: Take I-15 North, exit at 269 onto UT-265. Turn right onto Sandhill Road at the first light, then left on W 1800 S St. Continue uphill until reaching the Museum on the left side of the street.

From the North: Take I-15 South, use exit 269, merge onto UT-265 E towards Utah Valley University. Turn right onto Sandhill Road at the light, then left on W 1800 S St. Continue uphill until reaching the Museum on the left side of the street.

From the East: Depending on starting point, follow S Main St in Orem until you reach W 1800 S St. Head downhill, and the Museum will be on the right side of the street.

Bus

To reach the Museum by bus, use the Main St/1820 S (SB) or Main St/1820 S (NB) bus stop, which is about three blocks away. From the bus stop, walk north and turn left on W 1800 S St. Head down the hill, and the Museum will be on the right side of the street. Plan your ride with UTA.

Parking

There are two large gates located at the front of the Museum. To access the Museum, enter the gate farthest east (highest up on the hill). This far east gate will always be open during Museum hours. Upon entering the gate, immediately turn right and head towards the parking lot above the Museum. Parking is free for all visitors.

Due to space limitations, school buses and chartered buses are encouraged to park off-site. Please contact our Visitor Experience Manager by email at to coordinate.




Museum Visit Guidelines

The UVU Museum of Art is committed to providing excellent visitor experience for all our guests. As such, we ask that all guests comply with the following museum etiquette: 

  • Unless otherwise indicated, all artwork is a touch-free experience. Please maintain at least 12 inches between yourself and an artwork to prevent accidental collisions 
  • Minors 16 and under must be supervised by an adult at all times 
  • Walk and speak softly to avoid disrupting others 
  • Pencil sketching is allowed in the galleries, but please do not block artwork from others’ viewing 
  • Save food and drink for outside the museum unless otherwise indicated 
  • Outdoor structures are not suitable for climbing. Please keep both feet on the ground 
  • Behind-the-Scenes access is reserved for staff and membership tours. Please do not pass stanchions or mess with locked doors 
  • Museum parking is available for museum visitors and staff during open hours. Vehicles abandoned in the museum parking lot will be reported to UVU Police 
  • Verbal or physical harassment, discriminatory or threatening behavior, and any other form of endangerment of visitors or staff is strictly prohibited 

The UVU Museum of Art reserves the right to ask guests who do not comply with museum etiquette to leave the site. 

 

Photography & Film 

We are delighted by the growing interest in the UVU Museum of Art for photography sessions. To ensure a great experience for all guests and the preservation of museum collections, we are now accepting photography bookings only from our list of preferred and pre-approved photographers (effective 06/11/2025). Photographers may inquire about their eligibility by emailing [email protected]Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Groups

Large Group Visits (10+ people)

Due to space limitations in our various galleries, we ask that any museum visitors arriving in groups of 10 or more people, please schedule your visit with the Museum in advance by emailing Visitor Experience Manager Madeleine Beale at . Please let us know your desired date and time of your visit, how many are in your party, and if your group requires accommodations.

Guided Tours

The Museum is happy to host guided tours of the museum and select exhibitions. If you would like a guided tour, please contact Visitor Experience Manager Madeleine Beale at  to schedule a time/day at least one week in advance of your intended visit.

K-12 Visits

You are invited to visit the Museum with your class! We can often tailor your visit to your educational goals. Please inquire about your class visit with Visitor Experience Manager Madeleine Beale by emailing . All class visits must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Class visits require a minimum of one adult chaperone per 10 students. We suggest a smaller student/chaperone ratio for younger age groups. Please be ready to specify how many are in your class and if you would like a guided tour for your class visit. With advance notice, a specialized art activity or guided discussion may be possible. 

UVU (and other college/university) class visits

As an academic museum, we love hosting class visits from institutions of higher education. Please inquire about your class visit with Visitor Experience Manager Madeleine Beale by emailing .. All class visits must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Please be ready to specify how many are in your class and if you would like a guided tour for your class visit. With advance notice, a specialized art activity or guided discussion may be possible. 

Accessibility

The UVU Museum of Art at Lakemount is an ADA accessible building, with accessible parking spots located in the parking lot. Patrons can use the front driveway as a drop-off prior to parking in the back lot.

All galleries are wheelchair and stroller accessible. There is a public elevator located immediately to the right of the main gallery hall.

A wheelchair is available for visitors to use upon request at the front desk.

There are two accessibility ramps at the Museum—one located to the right of the entrance and another on the northeast side of the building leading to the gardens and Art Haus.

Visitors with registered service animals are welcome.
