Welcome from President Tuminez

Dear Wolverines,

Welcome back!

How grateful I am to be able to join you for the first day of the semester. My maps and basket of goodies for students are ready! And so are a few extra words of welcome to our Wolverine community.

As we begin this academic year, I would like to remind us of our core values at UVU: Exceptional Care, Exceptional Accountability and Exceptional Results. We will care deeply for one another; use our resources wisely, take our responsibilities seriously, and speak to one another candidly and kindly; and achieve outstanding results as individuals and as a community.

I love that UVU is open admission. “Come as you are. UVU has a place for you!” is an invitation that distinguishes us. I am proud that we have the dual mission of a university and community college under one roof.

We have so much to look forward to in the coming months – new learning and new friends, homecoming, athletic events, performing arts engagements, and community celebrations. Please participate!

Let me share a quote that I believe captures what we are trying to do at UVU. This is your story. Make it count!

Now, as a nation, we don't promise equal outcomes, but we were founded on the idea everybody should have an equal opportunity to succeed. No matter who you are, what you look like, where you come from, you can make it. That's an essential promise of America. Where you start should not determine where you end up."-Barack Obama

Thank you for choosing UVU. I look forward to the great work we will do together this year!

With love, gratitude, and best wishes,

President Tuminez
