Troy Martin Appointed Associate Vice President of IT and Chief Technology Officer at UVU

Utah Valley University announced today that Troy Martin has been appointed associate vice president of IT and chief technology officer (AVP IT/CTO) with a starting date of Aug. 3, 2020.

   

Utah Valley University announced today that Troy Martin has been appointed associate vice president of IT and chief technology officer (AVP IT/CTO) with a starting date of Aug. 3, 2020. Prior to UVU, Martin served as chief information officer in charge of institutional software development at BYU-Pathway Worldwide. 

“I have watched UVU’s tremendous growth and am excited to be part of the UVU family,” said Martin. “I have seen firsthand how digital transformation can improve the educational experience for students and faculty, and I am excited to share my professional expertise and experience at UVU.”

Martin has experience in hardware design, systems architecture, technology strategy and management, institutional software acquisition and development, product portfolio management, business continuity and disaster recovery processes, and data security management.

“I am thrilled to have Troy join the UVU team,” said Kelly Flanagan, vice president of digital transformation and CIO at Utah Valley University. “His leadership experience and technology expertise position him perfectly to help digitally transform the university. His skills are a perfect match to meet our needs.”

Martin is scheduled to receive his Ph.D. from Brigham Young University in instructional psychology and technology in April 2021 that focuses on student retention and persistence. His master’s degree from BYU focused on faculty perceptions of open educational resources (OER), and effective teaching and learning principles. He holds a bachelor’s degree from BYU in electronics engineering technology, and an MBA in technology management from the University of Phoenix.   

Martin grew up in the Pacific Northwest. He and his wife, Rebecca, are the parents of four children, and his hobbies include golf, mountain biking, weightlifting, and training for triathlons.
