Mark H.  Arstein has been named vice president of Institutional Advancement at Utah Valley University, where he will begin serving in his new position on Feb. 25, 2021.

Arstein comes to UVU after serving as the senior executive director of advancement at the University of Utah’s U Health, Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI), where he was leading the initial launch of HMHI and its $500 million comprehensive fundraising campaign for the institute. While there, he led the advancement team at HMHI, and was a member of the U Health leadership team, which supports frontline fundraisers and alumni relations.

Prior to the University of Utah, he served as the senior director of Development and Strategic Initiatives at Idaho State University for seven years, and executive director of the Alumni Association and Development at Boise State University for eight years, where he led and managed multiple fundraising campaigns including planned and annual giving, major gifts, and led volunteer boards.

“The vice president of Institutional Advancement is one of the most critical roles in any university,” said Dr. Astrid S. Tuminez, president of Utah Valley University. “It is vital to have a strong, committed leader in this position, and we found that leadership and commitment in Mark. We look forward to working with him to continue building the bright future of Utah Valley University.”

Although Utah Valley University is a public institution and receives funding from the state of Utah, it depends on the generosity of financial donors to fund important educational priorities that make a difference in the lives of students. Donations through Institutional Advancement fund scholarships, new facilities, professorships, and special programs.

“It is an honor for me to join President Tuminez and the Institutional Advancement team at Utah Valley University,” said Arstein. “I am looking forward to begin building upon the strong foundation that has been built by the team and others.”
