UVU Mask Policy Update Through Summer Semester 2021

Utah Valley University, along with the state’s other public education institutions, will continue to require masks in all university buildings through the end of summer semester 2021.

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

Utah's statewide formal mask mandate will come to an end on Saturday, April 10. Utah Valley University, along with the state’s other public education institutions, will continue to require masks in all university buildings through the end of summer semester 2021. The decision is based on the CDC's public health guidance and our ongoing efforts to keep our campus safe and healthy.

We appreciate the care taken by our UVU community in the past year. Together, we have been successful at limiting the spread of COVID-19. It is encouraging to see the number of cases continue to drop and the number of vaccinations increase. We are asking everyone to continue the health and safety protocols already in place at UVU until all who seek a vaccination have had the opportunity to receive one.

We would also note that accommodations are available for UVU employees and students who cannot wear masks due to a medical condition.

As previously announced, fall registration begins on April 19, and we expect a majority of classes will be held in person, with livestreaming and online options available as well. We are optimistic that with preparation and by exercising caution now, we will be able to welcome everyone back safely. We will also be monitoring public health guidelines and making a decision about required mask wearing for fall term closer to the start of the academic year.

Free COVID-19 testing will continue throughout the summer semester. If you are exposed to COVID-19 or feel ill, we ask that you avoid contact with others and receive a non-invasive, rapid test.

It is critical that we all continue to do our part to protect our campus community. The pandemic has been a unique challenge, and we are all anxious to put it behind us, but let's continue to do our part for the safety of others to ensure a brighter future for all.

Sincerely,
