Dr. Cheryl Hanewicz was appointed dean of the College of Health and Public Service (CHPS) at Utah Valley University today by UVU Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs Wayne Vaught.

Prior to her appointment, Hanewicz was serving as interim dean of CHPS and as UVU’s interim associate provost of engaged learning. She joined the UVU faculty in 2005 in what is now called the College of Engineering and Technology (CET), where she eventually served two terms as department chair. Before UVU, Hanewicz taught at Eastern Michigan University and has over 20 years of technology and management experience.

In addition to teaching, she is an author and has published technology-related books and articles as well as participated in grants and professional conferences. She received her Bachelor of Science, Master of Science in technology studies, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership at Eastern Michigan University. She is interested in helping students achieve academic success and supporting faculty in their endeavors.

“Cheryl’s track record speaks for itself,” Vaught said. “She is a brilliant academician, teaches and understands the power of technology, is an organizer, and knows how to lead teams to accomplish goals. UVU is fortunate to count her among its faculty and leadership.”
