While many UVU students can access the DoorDash app on their phones, UVU is collaborating with the food delivery service in a unique way to support students facing food insecurities. In a newly formed partnership between the UVU Food Pantry, United Way of Utah County, and DoorDash, UVU students will now be able to have their Food Pantry orders delivered.

“Lack of transportation, online classes, and family situations are a few of the barriers students face in being able to utilize the UVU Food Pantry,” said Kinsey Oldroyd, assistant resource coordinator of VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) who works within the UVU Center for Social Impact. “We hope that students facing those barriers will be able to benefit from this program by having their pantry orders delivered directly to their houses.”

To qualify for the new service, an applicant must be a current UVU student and live within 10 miles of UVU’s Orem Campus. Students can make sure their addresses meet this distance requirement by checking Google Maps.

This special DoorDash program is available now, and students can apply for deliveries via the UVU DoorDash application link. Orders placed by Wednesday at 5 p.m. will be delivered by DoorDash the following Monday. The option to pick up a food order in person is still available, and students can place orders through the Food Pantry online order form.

“We are excited to be able to serve students in more capacities by giving them different options that work best with their schedules and specific needs,” Oldroyd said. “Our goal is to be more equitable in everything we do, and I hope this Food Pantry program with DoorDash helps us serve even more UVU students.”
