After 12 years of service as dean of the Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University, Dr. Norman Wright announced that he will be joining the Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine (Noorda-COM) to serve as president and chief executive officer.

“Dean Norm Wright has grown and strengthened the Woodbury School of Business through new programs, strong enrollments, improved retention and completion, and leadership in getting the new Scott C. Keller Building completed,” said UVU President Astrid S. Tuminez. “His leadership leaves a lasting imprint on UVU and its students. I am grateful for his service and know he will succeed in his new position.”

Under Wright’s leadership, the Woodbury School of Business has added multiple graduate degree programs, opened the new Keller Building, and become the largest business school in the state of Utah, with more than 5,000 students. The school ranks in the top 5% of business schools globally.

“This has been an amazing period of growth and progress for the Woodbury School of Business,” Wright said. “I have been continually amazed at the passion and creativity of our faculty and staff in developing initiatives that support student development. It has been the honor of my life to work with such colleagues.”

Wright holds a PhD in management from Wharton and degrees from Brigham Young University. Prior to joining the Woodbury School of Business, he taught and served as an administrator at universities in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Nigeria, and Hawaii. Wright is an active scholar, having served as the editor of the Journal of Microfinance and published his own research on cross-cultural management and entrepreneurship in and around protected areas. He routinely engages in consulting and training activities working with such diverse organizations as Dubai Municipality, HSBC, World Wildlife Fund, China Youth Travel Services, Ajman University of Science and Technology, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and the National Entrepreneurship Centre in Saudi Arabia. Wright also practices what he preaches by running his own entrepreneurial ventures in Hawaii with his wife, Dolly.
