OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University’s (UVU) 2022 commencement and convocation ceremonies, honoring 11,064 students receiving a total of 14,431 degrees and certificates, will take place on Friday, May 6, at UVU’s Orem Campus. The Class of 2022 is the largest in UVU's history.

Commencement exercises will begin at 6pm in the UCCU Center, featuring keynote remarks from Mary C. Daly, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. The event will be livestreamed via UVU’s YouTube page.

Daly is a proponent of the concept of “3D public service” — the need to bring human vulnerability and compassion along with optimism and pragmatism to solve society’s most pressing issues. She is the host of the podcast Zip Code Economies, which uncovers stories of hope in the micro-economies of the nine states, including Utah, that compose the Federal Reserve’s Twelfth District.

Daly will also receive an honorary degree in public service during the commencement ceremonies. Other honorary degree recipients include business and community leader Karen C. Acerson, who will receive an honorary doctorate in humane letters, and Steven J. Lund, executive chairman of the board of directors at Nu Skin Enterprises, who will receive an honorary doctorate in business.

UVU Class of 2022 graduates will receive 4,290 bachelor degrees, 4,544 associate degrees, 328 master degrees, 5,227 certificates or diplomas, and 42 graduate certificates.

More than 10,000 of this year’s graduates are from Utah. The most popular areas of study for this year’s graduating class are: university studies, general education, humanities and social sciences, business management, accounting, programming, psychology, criminal justice, information system and technology, and health. This year’s oldest graduate is 77 years old, and the youngest is 16.

Convocations for UVU’s eight colleges and schools will be held earlier in the day on May 6.
