Kim Wright Wins Global Award for Excellence in Advising

Kim Wright, from the Woodbury School of Business (WSB) advising team, recently won a Global Award for Region 10 Excellence in Advising for 2022.

You may not have heard of NACADA (National Academic Advising Association), but its 12,000 members worldwide have heard about Utah Valley University. Kim Wright, from the Woodbury School of Business (WSB) advising team, recently won a Global Award for Region 10 Excellence in Advising for 2022.

“I was really shocked that I got the award,” Wright said. “There are many, many deserving advisors for this award. I am very happy to represent the wonderful advising community at UVU and around the globe.”

While the award came as a surprise to Wright, it was not for those who work with her.

“Kim is a highly valued member of the advising team in the Woodbury School of Business and is deserving of this NACADA advising award and recognition,” said Polly Clauson, director of WSB Academic Advising. “Over the past 15 years, Kim has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the advising community. Kim’s involvement and service in other activities and organizations across the campus are phenomenal. She proactively researches ways to better serve our students. We are so proud of her.”

NACADA is the leading association globally for the advancement of student success through excellence in academic advising in higher education. Wright said she celebrates the triumphs of students and puts them on paths that will lead to happiness.

“I love helping people in a one-on-one setting. I love learning and want others to discover a love for learning also,” Wright said. “I want students to find what they love to do and to be happy and successful. Success doesn't mean money. It means that you are doing what you love to do.”

Kim Wright is doing what she loves, and it has led to success for countless students. Her award will be presented at the annual conference held each fall. She will be honored during an evening ceremony.

Congratulations, Kim!
