The hallways of the Utah Valley University Orem Campus were bustling once again at the start of the fall semester on August 22, 2022, rounding off with Freshman Convocation, a celebration welcoming new Wolverines to UVU.

As busy students marched across campus to find their next class, UVU President Astrid S. Tuminez rolled out the green carpet for passersby, handing out treats and wishing everyone a great first of the semester. Decorated across campus was UVU’s signature slogan, “A Place for You.”

Later that evening, thousands of UVU freshmen — accompanied by parents and family members— packed the seats of the UCCU Center for Freshman Convocation as they were officially welcomed by members of UVUSA, student programs, and President Tuminez into the Wolverine pack.

During the program, students were selected from the crowd for a chance to win $5,000 by successfully shooting a half-court shot.

Messages encouraging students to give life to their own stories were broadcast throughout the program. The program concluded following remarks from President Tuminez.

“My hope is that each of you here tonight will take hold of your dreams and use them to give life to your own story,” Tuminez said.

Welcome back to campus, Wolverines!
