Utah Valley University (UVU) Vice President of Planning, Budget, and Finance Linda Makin was selected as the 2022 recipient of the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) Women’s Leadership Exchange (UWLE) Elizabeth Hitch Mentorship Award.

Makin was nominated by UWLE Associate Kami Paul from SUU.

“Linda Makin might be the best mentor there ever was,” Paul said. “She took time to listen to my project interests, discussed directions with me, and then set up times for me to talk with people who could offer perspectives and information to help me with implementation. Linda is a rock star at her own institution, and a hero for all she did with me.”

Makin serves as co-chair for UVU's Women's Council, UVU's ElevateHer liaison, a peer evaluator for NWCCU, and the PACE executive liaison. Linda represents UVU on USHE's Business Affairs Council and Budget Officers System subcommittee. Makin participates in several professional associations — Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), Association for Institutional Research (AIR), Western Association of College and University Business Officers (WACUBO), and Association of College and University Policy Administrators (ACUPA).

UVU is honored to have Linda Makin as a mentor for women at our institution and throughout the Utah System of Higher Education Women’s Leadership Exchange. Congratulations, Linda!
