Emilio Manuel Camu, director of the First-Generation Student Success Center at Utah Valley University (UVU), was selected by Utah Business as one of 22 recipients of the Living Color Awards. The Living Color Awards highlight individuals in the community who work toward a more equitable and inclusive future for Utah.

“To be recognized as someone who is making a positive impact in Utah’s business landscape through equity, diversity, and inclusion is humbling, especially considering the resumes of the past four years of recipients,” Camu said. “I am so lucky to be able to carry on the work that many before me have carried; what an opportune responsibility it is to bring others along the way to make Utah a better place for our marginalized communities.”

As the director of the First-Generation Student Success Center, Emilio is responsible for providing leadership development, peer and faculty mentoring, scholarships, access to resources, and fun events for the first-generation student population of UVU.

UVU is honored to have Emilio as a mentor for first-generation students and a beacon of inclusion in the state of Utah. Congratulations, Emilio!
