President Astrid S. Tuminez was honored today at the 46th Annual Women & Business Conference and ATHENA Awards Luncheon as one of the six recipients of the Pathfinder Award, a recognition given to business and community leaders for their work to create new paths and promote the development and recognition of women in business.

The event was hosted by the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce and held in the Grand America Hotel to recognize the accomplishments of those helping to make a difference in the community.

“The successes we celebrate today are the efforts of strong hearts and minds that are brought to bear to ensure that it's not just a job to be done, but a job done well,” Salt Lake Chamber President Derek Miller said. “I'm optimistic for our state because of you. We've built together an economic miracle in this high mountain desert, which proves that we can achieve anything that we put our minds to.”

Dr. Tuminez expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Salt Lake Chamber and the UVU campus community for the recognition.

"I'm grateful to have been given the Pathfinder award by the Salt Lake Chamber,” she said.  “Utah is full of opportunities for women to lead. All the honorees show just how much women are contributing to this state. These women are learners and doers. Their faith in the future is bigger than their fears.  I'm honored to be counted among them!”
