UVU's Kevin 'Dok' Woods Named to Utah Valley BusinessQ 40 Under 40 List

Utah Valley Athletics mental health specialist Kevin "DoK" Woods II has been named to Utah Valley BusinessQ's "40 Under 40" list.

   

Utah Valley Athletics mental health specialist Kevin "DoK" Woods II has been named to Utah Valley BusinessQ's "40 Under 40" list. 

The list highlights successful entrepreneurs, long-time businesses, and trends in Utah Valley. The 40 Under 40 Award recognizes entrepreneurs who are making waves in the area also known as the "movers and shakers" in the business world. 
 
"It's an incredible honor and there is no one more deserving than Kevin," said Utah Valley athletics director Dr. Jared Sumsion. "We've put a big emphasis on the mental health of our student-athletes and Kevin has obviously played a pivotal role in that. He's been a tremendous resource for our student-athletes."
 
Woods played basketball at Utah Valley from 2007-13 under former head coach Dick Hunsaker and earned a bachelor's degree from UVU in 2012 in behavioral science with an emphasis in psychology. In 2015, he received a master's degree in counseling, sport & health psychology near his hometown at Adler University in Chicago. Woods pursued completing his Ph.D. from Adler in counselor education & supervision right after his masters.
 
During his time as a student-athlete at UVU, Woods worked at Intermountain Healthcare as a Behavioral Health Specialist, helping patients who struggled with all aspects of mental health concerns. He also worked with sports medicine as an anesthesia technician assisting in sport-related surgeries.
 
After the completion of his master's degree, Woods created a private practice, DoK Woods Holistic Training, specializing in counseling and cognitive performance working with all types of performers, ranging from young children to professional athletes.
 
After completing his PhD course work, "DoK" Woods returned to Utah Valley in 2018 as the mental health specialist for UVU Athletics. He helps student-athletes and coaches overcome the pressures and anxieties that come with Division I college athletics.
