Utah Valley University is pleased to announce that the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) will visit the Orem Campus for its seven-year comprehensive evaluation of the university’s institutional effectiveness from October 23-25.

Peer evaluators, who are trained by NWCCU and work for educational institutions outside of Utah, will engage in a series of meetings and forums with UVU President Astrid S. Tuminez, UVU’s Board of Trustees, university executives, faculty, staff, students, and the public.

UVU will submit a self-appraisal report to the NWCCU called Evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness (EIE) on September 1, 2024. The commission members will use the report to acquaint themselves with UVU and to reaffirm accreditation. This collaborative process will allow the evaluators to gain a comprehensive understanding of UVU’s operations, resources, stability, and overall effectiveness.

UVU encourages all stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and the public, to participate in the evaluation process. Information about the on-site schedule will be shared by email and posted at UVU Accreditation and Compliance once it has been finalized by the NWCCU and peer evaluation team.

Stakeholders can send comments to the NWCCU on or before October 13, 2024, at Upcoming Evaluations. Questions about sending comments should be addressed to the NWCCU or by calling 425-558-4224.

By undergoing this seven-year evaluation, UVU seeks to further enhance its educational offerings and ensure that it remains a leading institution of higher learning. The feedback will serve as a valuable guide for future strategic planning and decision-making.

NWCCU’s most recent action on UVU’s accreditation status was its acceptance of the university’s 2020 Mid-Cycle Review on February 12, 2021, and its year six Standard Two: Policies, Regulations, and Financial Review (PRFR) in 2023.

UVU is accredited by the NWCCU and must comply with NWCCU Standards, Eligibility Requirements, and Policies. The university is proud to have achieved and maintained institutional accreditation through NWCCU since 1969.
