The Utah Valley University Ballroom Dance Company showcased its world-class talent at the prestigious World Culture Dance Competition on Saturday, April 5, earning first place among 10 top collegiate dance teams
The Utah Valley University (UVU) Ballroom Dance Company showcased its world-class talent at the prestigious World Culture Dance Competition on Saturday, April 5, earning first place among 10 top collegiate dance teams, including teams from Stanford University; San Diego State University; University of California, Los Angeles; and University of California, San Diego.
UVU’s dancers wowed the judges and audience with a Latin medley set to a high-energy remix of classic ‘80s favorites, reinforcing UVU’s reputation as a powerhouse in collegiate ballroom dance. UVU Ballroom Dance Director Tara Boyd praised the team’s achievement, stating, “We are incredibly proud of the UVU ballroom team and all the hard work they put in this weekend. We were up against some tough competition, and we're grateful for the chance to showcase our skills alongside some of the best collegiate teams in the nation.”
Courtney Davis, dean of the School of the Arts, also expressed her pride in the team’s accomplishments, saying, "The UVU ballroom dance team continues to captivate us with their exceptional dedication and talent. Their first-place victory at the World Culture Dance Competition stands as a shining testament to their relentless hard work and the remarkable educational opportunities available at UVU. We take immense pride in their accomplishments, and in the remarkable way our students have represented the School of the Arts on the global stage.”
