The Utah Valley University (UVU) School of the Arts (SOA) and American Fork Physical Therapy have launched a new partnership to provide current dance program students with rehabilitative physical therapy services and comprehensive preventive care plans designed for dancers’ needs.

This partnership sets UVU apart as one of the few schools in the nation providing dance students with specialized care from trained physical therapists that supports their health, training, and long-term success.

Through this collaboration, American Fork Physical Therapy will provide individualized, proactive wellness assessments designed to support the physical demands of collegiate dance training and reduce injury risk. Dancers will benefit from streamlined access to physical therapy services, including injury evaluation, treatment, and ongoing support to promote long-term health and performance.

“Our collaboration with American Fork Physical Therapy is all about putting our dancers’ well-being first,” said Jamie Johnson, chair of the UVU Department of Dance.

Preventive care is essential for dancers in sustaining long, healthy careers, and the partnership underscores UVU’s commitment to student well-being and aligns with national best practices for dance education.

“We are incredibly excited about this partnership,” said Seth Kelson, owner of American Fork Physical Therapy. “Providing physical therapy to UVU dancers will prepare them with the skills they need to maintain their health as professionals.”
